We love salvaging old pieces of furniture that hold tons of character and history. We have a passion for bringing them back to life and taking pride in their flaws and restoring them to be enjoyed and cherished by new families.

VINTAGE: Representing what is best or most characteristic of somebody or something. CHARM: A quality that attracts others to oneself. RESTORATION: A term commonly used when describing an item that has undergone improvements such as new paint, yet is nothing like the original.

two.is.better.than.one

This is a custom order for my husband's boss. She wanted the beds to look like the farmhouse hoosier cabinet I did a while back. These beds started out the same as most french provincial style furniture - cream with gold accents. I'm sure these beds were gorgeous once before, and now they are again!!

After using liquid sandpaper to roughen up the beds, I painted two coats of Dove Wing white then glazed all the surfaces, concentrating mostly on the details of the beds, with a dark walnut wood stain glaze. I think they turned out beautifully and I know the boys will surely enjoy them for many years to come!

old.world.buffet

This was a custom project. I picked up this piece a few weeks back at the Flea Market and got a request to custom paint it. She wanted it to be black, but not too black and to have an old feel to it. She also wanted some of the original wood exposed where appropriate. I think this piece turned out great!!

I started off by using a liquid sandpaper on the entire surface to clean it up. After all, it had been sitting in the gravel at the Flea Market. Next I painted on two coats of black paint. While the second coat was not all the way dry, I mixed up a wood stain glaze to apply to the entire piece. I used both 220 grit and 80 grit sandpaper to distresses all the edges, and even some main areas. I wiped it down and applied the wood stain glaze over the entire piece. I let it sit for just a few minutes to stain the exposed wood areas then used a cloth to wipe it back off. It left the sanded areas a beautiful cherry wood color. I then finished it off with a wax for protection.

I hope she loves it!! Let the pictures roll...
